Our client manufactures innovative, high-quality ingredients designed to deliver superior nutrition performance. Specializing in dairy-based ingredients, they provided comprehensive R&D and ingredients for a broad range of food & beverage applications. They are looking to add a Plant Manager to their state-of-the-art plant in Fond du Lac, WI. (100% onsite, relocation assistance providd.)
- 10+ years of leadership in a food manufacturing operation that includes dairy experience, ideally whey processing. Solid experience with packaging.
Compensation/Benefits:
- $130-160k base salary plus uncapped commission.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:
- Create and implement manufacturing strategies and programs to achieve target unit costs and production goals. Formulate long-term growth strategies and specific initiatives to address both short-term manufacturing expenses and product quality objectives.
- Oversee the coordination of all manufacturing functions to ensure alignment with plant objectives and adherence to customer quality standards. Communicate priorities as needed and review and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production activities.
- Maintain production capacity in line with sales volume requirements, and develop contingency plans as necessary. Implement ongoing initiatives to reduce inventory levels.
- Develop and monitor the annual operating budget to ensure alignment with objectives. Stay updated on production methods, formulations, analytical techniques, and federal regulations pertinent to the company’s products. Create and implement improvement action plans as needed.
- Enhance the quality of both current and fixed plant assets. Design and execute a capital improvement program to maintain or upgrade existing assets, boost operational efficiencies, and accommodate growing volumes based on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead personnel, continually raising performance standards. Establish training and development programs for staff. Foster a team-oriented environment that encourages open communication and solicits feedback on production, safety, and quality issues.
- Implement and oversee safety and regulatory programs to ensure the facility operates safely over the long term. Collaborate with Purchasing and Quality Assurance to set quality specifications for incoming raw materials and monitor compliance with these specifications.
- Support Quality Assurance in developing new products and processes, and improving existing ones. Oversee experimental and test runs, documenting all results. Manage the inventory of off-spec materials, including scheduling and reworking products as necessary.
- Maintain and enhance production log data and implement the OEE system. Collaborate with operations to optimize OEE using World Class, Six Sigma, and other relevant methodologies.
- Ensure the facility complies with all state and federal regulations related to food-grade product manufacturing. Maintain effective communication with relevant government agencies.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with the local community, both personally and on behalf of the plant. Manage the Business Development Managers and Customer Service teams.
Competencies Needed for Success:
- 10+ years of leadership in a food manufacturing operation
- Packaging experience
- Strong ERP and ther technology skills
