Senior R&D Scientist – Meat/Snack Foods

Kinsa is recruiting for a:  Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance – Meat                 
Location: Onsite in Tillamook, Oregon

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of snack food products sold to Grocery and Convenience chains as well as ecommerce with an opportunity for a Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to join their team in Oregon. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the food safety and quality programs, holding teams accountable to meet the standards and expectations of product safety and stability.  The Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance will report to the Vice President of Technical Services and will have 2-3 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Overall management of Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs
• Design and execute studies to validate food safety and/or shelf-life
• Troubleshoot food safety and product quality related issues
• Provide guidance on product disposition, with authority to make recommendations to assure food safety is maintained
• Ensure documentation accuracy for food safety systems and food safety standards for USDA and GFSI are met

Education & Experience Needed:                                                              

• Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in the meat industry
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a management role
• HACCP certification required
• BRC or SQF certification desired
• Strong knowledge of food pathogens, USDA guidelines and regulations
• Travel locally 30%
