Kinsa is recruiting for a:  Key Account Manager – Grocery Distributor
Location: NJ / NY / Boston Metro
(75% travel in this region – must live here and be commutable to NJ office for meetings, some training, etc.)

Our client is a full-service distributor offering a diverse selection of over 1,400 products across grocery, frozen foods, dairy, and beverages. Originally, the company began with a modest lineup of essential items such as rice, salted fish, flour, and some produce. Over the past 95 years, they have expanded their offerings to include a wide variety of beverages, sauces, condiments, vegetables, beans, canned meats and fish, frozen meats, soups, instant porridge and oats, and coconut products. Today, they proudly represent leading food brands from the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and Europe.

The Key Account Manager oversees the sales performance for assigned Chain Accounts, Customers, and Distributors in the Northeast region. This role involves managing and maintaining relationships with these accounts, fostering positive interactions with Owners, Account Managers, and Buyers. Responsibilities also include reviewing and managing performance results, taking corrective actions as necessary, and developing new accounts.

Candidates MUST BE LOCAL, have 3 or more years of experience in sales in the Food/Beverage industry, AND be able to travel 75% to accounts in NE (mostly NY / NJ Metro)!

Compensation/Benefits:

  • $95,000 – $105,000+ BOE (base salary compensation range)

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Oversee sales activities, including direct sales, customer and vendor relations, and financial performance across all related areas.

  • Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with major accounts, customers, and distributors.

  • Contribute insights from sales, such as growth trends, competitive analysis, market developments, and the business environment, to support strategic planning.

  • Analyze sales performance in relation to corporate goals and market trends.

  • Collaborate with Customers and Sales Representatives to manage inventory movements, aiming to reduce product write-offs due to short shelf life.

  • Prepare and submit monthly sales reports to the key management team.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.); OR 3-5 years related sales experience and/or training

  • 3+ years or more experience with an established track record in sales in the Food/Beverage industry REQUIRED

  • Beverage and Grocery Sales background HIGHLY preferred; knowledge of these categories and the market in the area is very important for success.

  • Must be able to travel to accounts (75% travel) within NE (mostly NY/NJ Metro)

  • Must be CURRENTLY LOCAL and permanently authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.
