Location: New Haven, Connecticut

The Vice President of Bakery will be responsible for the overall operational and financial management of the bakery division of the company. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the bakery industry, astute business acumen, and strong background in bakery operations. The VP of Bakery will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement business strategies that drive growth and profitability.

Successful candidates must have in-depth knowledge of bakery operations, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Together with the CEO, develop and implement strategic plans to drive the growth and success of the bakery.
    • Identify new market opportunities and oversee the expansion into new sales territories or product lines.
    • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily bakery operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality control.
    • Implement and maintain best practices in production, supply chain management, and logistics.
    • Ensure compliance with health, food safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Financial Oversight:
    • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and growth.
    • Monitor financial performance and make adjustments as necessary to achieve financial goals.
    • Report financial performance and key metrics to the Board of Directors.
  • Sales and Marketing:
    • Develop marketing plan to drive and support bakery growth and profitability.
    • Set sales goals. Lead sales team to meet defined KPI’s.
    • Maintain and enhance relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of professionals, building a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages high performance and professional development.
    • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management processes.
  • Innovation and Quality Assurance:
    • Drive innovation in product development and improve operational processes.
    • Ensure the highest standards of food safety, product quality and consistency are maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in senior management roles within the baking or food processing industry, with a proven track record of success. Both Production Operations and Sales experience or leadership preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of bakery operations, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
