Kinsa is recruiting for a Director of Product Development
Location: San Antonio, TX (100% onsite, with relocation assistance)

With 50+ years under their belts, our client is a multi-site co-manufacturer with a wide range of capabilities, primarily baked goods. With a powerful and flexible combination of capabilities and capacity for manufacturing and logistics, they serve national restaurants, retail, the military, schools and more. We are helping them find the ideal candidate to lead and commercialize product development projects, meet client expectations and support product and process optimization. In this critical role, you will work cross-functionally within the organization, supporting clients and stakeholders.

  • BS in Food Science or a related field required. Additional culinary education preferred. 7+ years experience in bakery or pastry.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • $140-160K base salary plus generous bonus

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Conceptualize bakery products and develop product prototypes.
  • Formulate new Products. Monitor nutritional profile, shelf-life requirements, ingredient statement and product attributes.
  • Work with Operations and Engineering to develop, document and lead the process for the commercialization of new products. Lead plant trials and product start-ups.
  • Demonstrate expertise in bakery equipment use and settings.
  • Develop finished product and process specifications.
  • Execute and document shelf-life studies.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • BS in Food Science or a related field required. Additional culinary education preferred.
  • 7+ years experience in bakery or pastry.
  • Knowledge of extended shelf-life formulations and studies. Also ingredient types, functions and grades used in baked goods. And industrial bakery equipment.
  • Excellent project management experience. Including large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of costing, profitability and impact on overall business strategy
  • Domestic travel up to 20% of time.
