Kinsa is recruiting for a:  Process Engineer – Food Manufacturing
Location: Frederick County, Maryland (On-Site)

Our client is a family-owned bread manufacturer that has been providing innovative products and superior freshness in quality for over 30 years! The Process Performance Engineer focuses on optimizing bakery production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency. Combining technical expertise with a strong understanding of food production, this role drives continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and best practice implementation.

The ideal candidate will excel in process analysis, data interpretation, and system optimization, collaborating with production, maintenance, quality assurance, and R&D teams to enhance performance and meet production goals.

Successful candidates MUST HAVE 3+ years of Process Engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment (bakery / breads HIGHLY preferred!).
 MUST be permanently authorized to work in the U.S!

Compensation/Benefits:                                                                         

  • $85,000 – $120,000 base salary compensation range BOE

  • Company contribution towards employee benefits – medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, etc.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Process Optimization: Monitor and improve bakery production processes, implementing changes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain product quality.

  • Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring: Collect and analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities, using metrics like throughput, cycle time, and waste.

  • Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve process issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.

  • Collaboration: Work with production, QA, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations and product consistency.

  • Project Management: Lead process improvement projects, manage resources, timelines, and budgets, and train staff on new processes or equipment.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure process changes comply with safety, food safety, and regulatory standards while maintaining a safe working environment.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • Process Engineering experience in a food manufacturing facility (3+ years, bread/bakery HIGHLY preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering Food Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Lean, Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement experience.

  • Food safety certifications a plus

  • Strong understanding of food production processes, specifically in a commercial or industrial bakery setting.

  • Deep knowledge of bakery production, ingredients, and quality standards.

  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.
