Kinsa is recruiting for a:  2nd Shift Superintendent / Meat      
                                    

Location: St. Louis, MO (Onsite)

Our client is a family-owned meat product manufacturer based in St. Louis, MO. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring efficient and compliant production processes across raw, RTE, and boxing departments, driving quality, safety, and productivity. You will manage and mentor departmental supervisors and teams, coordinating cross-functional efforts and providing leadership to meet production goals and quality standards.

  • Successful candidates MUST HAVE 5+ years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Compensation/Benefits:                                                                         

  • $100,000 – $120,000 base salary (higher for right candidate)

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day production activities across raw, RTE, and boxing departments, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Directly supervise departmental supervisors and team leads, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback, addressing personnel issues, training, and discipline as required.
  • Ensure all operations comply with USDA, HACCP, and other regulatory and company standards for food safety, quality, and cleanliness, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Promote and enforce plant safety policies and procedures, including PPE usage and accident reporting.
  • Identify and implement improvements to production processes to enhance efficiency, product quality, and employee satisfaction.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods, coordinating with purchasing and inventory teams to avoid shortages.
  • Act as a liaison between the COO, plant operations, and departments, ensuring alignment of priorities and effective communication.

Competencies Needed for Success:                                                                                   

  • Comprehensive understanding of meat processing, including raw, ready-to-eat (RTE), and boxing operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations, HACCP principles, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Awareness of production scheduling, inventory management, and LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, computer and software proficiency, and oral and written communication skills across departments.
  • Competence in conducting root-cause analysis for quality and operational issues, implementing corrective actions effectively.
  • Physical ability to work in cold, wet, and noisy environments, often requiring extended periods of standing and occasional lifting.
