Kinsa is recruiting for a Dairy Manufacturing Process Engineer
Location: In or very near Michigan, 60% travel

They are looking to add a Dairy Manufacturing Process Engineer to their fast-growing company. You will act as a Project Manager, working collaboratively during the design, planning, coordination, and execution of new plant launches and expansions. You’ll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that the planning, design and startup processes are aligned to ensure capacity, capability, quality and food safety objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management, dairy processing, and a strong understanding of engineering principles.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working in engineering and food production, with excellent project management experience. Extensive engineering knowledge of dairy plants, including pumps, pipes, and tanks. Must in live in (or very near) Michigan, US

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Team up with engineers and operations staff at our partner factories to help design, plan, and launch new or upgraded food production lines.
  • Work closely with management  to set up and track how well our equipment runs and help find ways to make things faster, better, and more efficient.
  • Help install and start up cool equipment like machines that process cheese, heat and cool milk, and package food.
  • Support projects that involve both our team and our partners, making sure everything is done safely and meets our goals for quality and efficiency.
  • Work with different teams to improve how we make, process, and package our cottage cheese.
  • Help fix problems with equipment or processes and make sure everything runs smoothly as we grow.
  • After new equipment is up and running, continue working with our partners to keep improving quality, reduce costs, and test out new ideas.
  • Travel to factories to help get new projects off the ground and running at full speed.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant science field.
  • Project management experience, especially in food or dairy processing. PMP certification highly preferred. Good at using project management software and organizing project timelines.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working in engineering and food production. Extensive knowledge of food and dairy plants work, including equipment like pumps, pipes, and tanks.
  • Experience improving systems and making production lines faster and more efficient.
  • Adaptable, excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to quickly establish trust & credibility with partners & clients.
  • Willing to travel up to 60% of the time during big projects (mostly in the Midwest and Northeast), and around 40% in the ongoing support role.
