Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite, not remote or a hybrid)

Mission:
Our client, a producer of premium shelf stable products, is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to add to their team. In this role you will lead the facility’s efforts to assure that products and processes meet and exceed customer and regulatory requirements for food quality attributes and food safety.

Successful candidates MUST HAVE experience in a food processing plant environment (and/or other singular qualifier under Competencies/Culture below).

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and regulatory compliance programs
  • Management and support to ensure records, procedures, processes, packaging and equipment is in compliance with all company, state, federal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Work with operations to implement strategies to reduce consumer complaints and faulty products.
  • Partner closely with R&D to assist in ingredient and supplier approvals, contract manufacturers, strategize new product quality, and consult on other quality metrics, including shelf-life testing.
  • Analyze quality, food safety and consumer complaints and identify areas and plans for improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Food Safety Fundamentals and food Safety Plan(s) (via Product HACCP/HARPC Plans or equivalent).
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF program
  • Communicate relevant facility and headquarters personnel information (trends, data, needs, non-compliances, internal and external audits, etc.) to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System (or equivalent Food Safety/Food Quality Strategy).
  • Ensure the plant personnel is aware of their responsibility to report food safety problems to leadership
  • Ensure those responsible for food safety have defined or designated alternates and/or provisions to cover key food safety activities in the event of absence.

Competencies/Culture:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive quality assurance leadership experience in a food processing environment
  • Experience with developing and implementing SQF initiatives
  • Experience with USDA, FDA, HACCP and other regulatory standards
  • Experience with internal and 3rd party auditing
