Quality Assurance Specialist – Seafood

Location: Seattle, WA Area

Mission:
Our client, a producer of premium processed seafood products, is looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to add to their team. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that our seafood products meet the highest standards of quality and safety before they reach our customers. The Quality Control Technician will play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence in the seafood industry.

Successful candidates MUST HAVE experience in a food processing plant environment (and/or other singular qualifier under Competencies/Culture below).

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Conduct thorough inspections of incoming raw materials to ensure they meet quality specifications, purchase order guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement QC/QA processes.
• Ensure all finished goods are meeting written specifications.
• Perform regular checks throughout the production process to monitor any deviations from quality standards, such as temperature control, cleanliness, and product integrity.
• Collect samples of finished products for analysis and testing, including sensory evaluation, microbiological analysis, and chemical testing as required.
• Assist the sales department with collecting and shipping customer samples.
• Collaborate with production staff to identify and address any quality issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of quality control activities.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures and protocols.
• Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits by regulatory agencies or third-party certifying bodies.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to seafood quality and safety, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards.

Competencies/Culture:

• Bachelor’s Degree Biology, Microbiology, Food Science or related field (Not Required)
• Previous experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance position in a food or beverage processing environment
• Experience with seafood items (preferred but not necessary)
• Experience with food safety and other regulatory standards (HACCP/GMPs/SQF  – certifications desired)
• Knowledge of labeling and nutrition
• Ability to travel short distances often
