Kinsa is recruiting for a: Sr. Flavor Scientist
Location: Chico, CA Area
Overview:
Our client, a producer of premium beverage products is looking for a Sr. Flavor Scientist to add to their team. In this role, you will lead beverage product development and commercialization from concept through scale-up and launch. This role serves as the technical owner for beyond beer and nontraditional beverage platforms, applying strong formulation expertise, regulatory knowledge (TTB/FDA), and cross-functional leadership to deliver compliant, scalable products.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: $140K–$163K + potential bonus

Key Responsibilities and Goals:
- Lead end-to-end beverage development, including formulation, process design, scale-up, and launch readiness
- Translate innovation concepts into commercially viable products in partnership with R&D, Sensory, QA, Regulatory, Operations, and Supply Chain
- Source and qualify ingredients/flavors; maintain ingredient and flavor databases
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including nutrition labeling and documentation
- Define product specifications and support analytical testing and data-driven decisions
- Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to stakeholders
Competencies Needed For Success:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
- 7+ years beverage product development and commercialization experience
- Strong knowledge of TTB/FDA regulations and labeling requirements
- Experience with formulation and nutrition software (e.g., Genesis R&D, ESHA)
- Proven cross-functional leadership and project management skills
