Site Food Safety & Quality Manager – Baltimore, MD (On-Site)

With a strong focus on food safety, quality and continuous improvement, they are seeking a hands-on quality leader who can strengthen systems, develop the team and help drive a strong culture of quality and accountability across the plant.

What You’ll Do:
As the Site Food Safety & Quality Manager, you will lead food safety and quality at the Baltimore manufacturing facility, ensuring products, processes and systems consistently meet regulatory, customer and company standards. Reporting to the VP of Food Safety & Quality, you’ll lead and develop the site’s QA/QC team while driving continuous improvement and a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the plant.

  • Lead and continuously improve the site’s Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS), ensuring compliance with SQF, HACCP and applicable GFSI requirements.
  • Own site readiness for regulatory inspections, SQF/GFSI recertification and customer audits, including root cause analysis and timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop, maintain and improve HACCP and Food Safety Plans, including allergen controls, sanitation, environmental monitoring, pest control and traceability/recall programs.
  • Oversee document control, product specifications, hold-and-release procedures, non-conformances and customer complaint investigations.
  • Hire, coach and develop QA/QC supervisors, technicians and laboratory personnel while building a strong bench of quality talent.
  • Partner with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, R&D, Supply Chain and Procurement to address quality issues and ensure raw materials, packaging and finished products meet requirements.
  • Lead root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, complaints and non-conformances.
  • Track and report key quality metrics and manage site quality resources, including staffing, budget and laboratory/testing needs.

Qualifications You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive food manufacturing Quality Assurance/Food Safety experience, including experience leading a site-level QA/QC team.
  • HACCP certification required.
  • SQF Practitioner certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations, applicable USDA requirements, FSMA Preventive Controls, GFSI standards, allergen management and environmental monitoring/sanitation programs.
  • Experience supporting regulatory, certification and customer audits.
  • Strong root cause analysis, problem-solving, leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond to quality issues outside standard business hours when needed.
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends to support production, audits or investigations.
