Corporate Food Safety & Regulatory Manager – Cincinnati, OH or Baltimore, MD

About Our Client:
Our client is an established food manufacturer producing sauces, condiments and other shelf-stable products. They are seeking an experienced food safety and regulatory professional to help establish, harmonize and strengthen food safety and regulatory programs across multiple manufacturing facilities.

What You’ll Do:
As the Corporate Food Safety & Regulatory Manager, you will serve as a corporate subject-matter expert responsible for establishing, harmonizing and maintaining food safety and regulatory compliance programs across manufacturing facilities in Baltimore and Cincinnati. Reporting to the VP of Quality, you’ll partner closely with plant FSQ teams and cross-functional leadership to ensure consistent execution of food safety systems, regulatory compliance and audit readiness.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a corporate subject-matter expert on FDA FSMA, applicable USDA requirements and state/local food safety regulations, translating requirements into effective site-level policies and procedures.
  • Own and continuously improve the multi-site Food Safety Management System in alignment with SQF/GFSI standards.
  • Lead corporate readiness for SQF, customer and regulatory audits and inspections, including CAPA responses and resolution of critical non-conformances.
  • Maintain and oversee recall, mock recall and traceability programs across facilities.
  • Oversee allergen control and claims substantiation programs.
  • Lead label review and approval, including ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutritional claims and regulatory formatting.
  • Own the supplier approval program, including documentation review, risk assessment and ongoing supplier monitoring.
  • Prepare and maintain FDA filings and other required regulatory submissions.
  • Partner with R&D, Operations and Engineering on HACCP/HARPC risk assessments for new products, processes and capital projects.
  • Develop and deliver food safety and regulatory training and represent the company with regulators, customers and third-party certification bodies.

Qualifications You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive food safety and/or regulatory affairs experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Multi-site food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • HACCP certification required.
  • SQF Practitioner certification required.
  • PCQI certification required or ability to obtain within the first 6 months.
  • Strong working knowledge of FDA, USDA and state regulatory frameworks applicable to sauce, condiment or co-manufactured food products.
  • Demonstrated experience leading audits, regulatory inspections and customer non-conformance investigations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting formal responses to customers, auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25–40% between the Baltimore and Cincinnati facilities.
