Kinsa is recruiting for a: Sanitation Manager

Location: Baltimore, MD Area

A growing food manufacturer is seeking a Sanitation Manager to lead sanitation and janitorial operations within a fast-paced manufacturing facility. This hands-on leadership role will oversee sanitation programs, team development, chemical safety, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance while partnering closely with Quality, Production, and Maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, audit-ready facility and support uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Lead and develop the sanitation team while managing staffing, scheduling, training, and performance across sanitation operations.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and ensure adherence to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Ensure sanitation programs comply with GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA/USDA, OSHA, customer, and third-party audit requirements.
  • Oversee CIP and manual cleaning procedures, including chemical concentrations, contact times, cleaning verification, and equipment sanitation.
  • Partner with Quality to support allergen controls, ATP verification, environmental monitoring, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead chemical safety and HAZCOM compliance while ensuring proper SDS management, chemical labeling, employee training, LOTO, PPE, and safe work practices.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to improve sanitation effectiveness, changeover efficiency, food safety, and overall plant performance.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • 5+ years of sanitation management experience within food or beverage manufacturing, including supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and FDA/USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with CIP systems, manual cleaning procedures, environmental monitoring, and sanitation verification programs.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical safety, HAZCOM, SDS management, and OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated success leading, training, and developing hourly sanitation teams; bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Schedule: Second shift, approximately 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, with flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support production and sanitation schedules.
