SEEKING A ROLE AS: Vice President of R&D or Board Member with a Flavor, Ingredient, or Fragrance company
Results-driven scientific leader with over 25 years of experience in R&D, specializing in small molecule and natural products discovery and development in the food science, flavor, and fragrance sectors. Expert in leading innovative projects targeting beverages, alternative proteins, baked goods, confectionaries, snacks, and shelf-stable products. Proven track record of driving products from discovery to market, with expertise in receptor-based discovery, complex organic synthesis, analytical method development, formulation optimization, and leveraging AI/in silico tools for discovery.
IN LOCATION: Currently living in San Diego, California and open to on site work in southern CA or remote/ Hybrid opportunities.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
– More than 25 years of experience in discovery and optimization for flavors and fragrance, targeting novel solutions for beverages, alternative proteins, baked goods, confectionaries, snack foods, and shelf stables product applications.
– Responsible for all in lab discovery and optimization capabilities for previous company, taking AI model output and transforming this into real world ingredients culminating in 3 new fragrance ingredients discovered, optimized, and sold in the fine fragrance and cosmetics market in less than 1 year
– Successfully drove 18 new ingredients from discovery to commercial launch with more than 5 in queue for regulatory approval.

COMPENSATION: Base salary expectation dependent on cost of living and responsibilities but likely in the $250,000 range plus incentives.
