Kinsa is recruiting for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager – Import Compliance (FSVP / FSMA)

Location:
• Los Angeles Metro Area, CA (Hybrid – Carson HQ)
• Will relocate: Yes
• Hybrid (Onsite and Remote)

Overview:
Our client, operating within the distributor/broker industry, is dedicated to importing and distributing a significant portion of their products internationally. They focus on ensuring the highest standards of food safety and regulatory compliance across their operations. This critical role offers an opportunity for an experienced food safety professional to lead and enhance a comprehensive quality assurance program, supporting global supply chains and regulatory requirements. As the FSQA Manager, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding product integrity, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining certification standards to uphold the company’s reputation and regulatory compliance.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $115,000
  • Bonus Package: Discretionary annual performance-based bonus of up to 20%

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Lead and manage the company’s food safety and compliance programs, including supplier approval, documentation, and audits.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with USDA, FDA, FSMA (PCHF & FSVP), HACCP, cGMP, and GFSI standards for imported and exported products.
  • Conduct supplier risk assessments, evaluate CCPs/PRPs, and oversee co-manufacturers to ensure adherence to food safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve FSQA policies, SOPs, and documentation systems.
  • Support product assessments, ingredient reviews, and cross-functional collaboration on food safety initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and partners to resolve issues and ensure product quality and safety.

Competencies Needed For Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance within the food industry.
  • HACCP & PCQI certifications required; FSVP certification strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of FDA, FSMA, USDA regulations, cGMP, and GFSI standards.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier programs, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives for imported products.
