Kinsa is recruiting for an HR VP/Director
Location: Onsite in the Bay Area, CA (will relocate)

Our client is well known in the Bay area for their beloved beloved bakery brand, well on its way towards becoming a nationwide presence. For almost 30 years, they have provided a little taste of France to their loyal customers. They are looking to add a VP of HR to their team. You will have oversight over both manufacturing and headquarters locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is an on-site role and will travel between two local facilities.

  • 15+ years in HR, 5+ in leadership, 5+ in CPG manufacturing (preferably food). Strong experience with a large, hourly workforce.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • $225-275K base salary plus bonus

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals, focusing on all aspects of the employee lifecycle—including staffing, recruitment, retention, training and engagement.
  • Design, implement, and manage HR programs, policies, processes, training initiatives, and surveys to support strategic and compliance objectives. Develop and manage the HR department budget effectively
  • Oversee all HR operations, including compensation, benefits, payroll, leave management, workers’ compensation, employee relations, dispute resolution, performance management, learning and development, HRIS, knowledge management, DEI, and the overall employee experience.
  • Provide leadership with regular reports and insights on key HR metrics and the effectiveness of people strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices. Regularly review and update policies and perform compliance audits as needed.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, regulatory updates, and innovations in HR, talent management, and employment law; advise leadership and update practices accordingly.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP or SPHR) preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • 5+ years of HR experience in a CPG manufacturing environment, preferably food.
  • Demonstrated success in building and supporting HR programs for large hourly workforces.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with HRIS and talent management systems.
