Kinsa is recruiting for a: Director, Business Development – Industrial
Location: Remote with 40% travel. Must live near a major airport.
For more than a century, our client has been on the forefront of flavor! They are looking to add a Director of Business Development to grow Industrial business across the U.S. and Canada. This role will focus on developing new business with food manufacturers while continuing to grow relationships and opportunities within existing accounts. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who knows the food manufacturing space, understands how to develop business from the ground up, and is comfortable working through longer, more technical sales cycles. The right person will be able to build relationships across purchasing, R&D, operations, and leadership and work closely with the company’s internal teams to turn customer needs into new business.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:
- Develop and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities with food manufacturers and industrial customers across the U.S. and Canada, from prospecting through commercialization and ongoing account development.
- Expand existing accounts by identifying additional products, applications, facilities, and business units where the company can add value.
- Build relationships across purchasing, procurement, R&D, product development, operations, and leadership while defining customer applications, specifications, volumes, and other requirements.
- Partner with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to guide opportunities through testing, qualification, and commercialization.
- Lead proposals, pricing discussions, negotiations, and other commercial activity.
- Maintain account plans, pipeline activity, forecasts, and sales reporting while monitoring customer, market, and competitive trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Represent The company at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events, traveling as needed to support customers and business development.
Competencies Needed for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of sales, business development, or national/strategic account experience in food manufacturing, food ingredients, or a related food industry.
- Proven success prospecting, opening, and growing significant B2B accounts through direct sales to food manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of food manufacturing sales processes, including collaboration with purchasing, procurement, and technical teams.
- Experience managing long, technical sales cycles involving product testing, qualification, and commercialization.
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across internal departments.
- Ability to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada as needed.
